REMOTE PATIENT MONITORING

UAB eMedicine 2020 Report
UAB eMedicine facilitated the creation of a remote patient monitoring program for ambulatory care . This was started with an HSF-GEF grant and extended with an FCC grant . Thank you to Mayumi Oda , Abria Love , M . J . Tucker , Cindy Blackburn , and all of the physician liaison nurses for making this possible . Thank you also to Shweta Patel , MD ; Rachel Sinkey , MD ; and Alan Tita , MD , PhD , for help-ing us work toward extending remote patient monitoring to our high-risk pregnancy population .
HIGHLIGHTS AS OF MID-NOVEMBER 2020 INCLUDE :
• Total patient monitoring days : 15,120
• Alerts cleared : 1,955
• Encouraging initial results for reducing blood pressure among patients who were monitored for 90 days

INTERPROFESSIONAL eCONSULTS AND PATIENT PORTAL MESSAGE BILLING

eConsultations and patient portal message billing went live during COVID-19 and continue to expand . In 2021 , we plan to continue adding services such as interprofessional eConsult capabilities to improve access to care . In 2020 , 762 portal messages and 14 eConsults were billed .
