UAB eMedicine provides asynchronous telehealth visits for common disorders . In 2020 , UAB eMedicine conducted 10,091 such visits , which is up 39 % from 2019 . Thank you to Mayumi Oda , MSN , CRNP , for leading this effort .

UAB eMedicine facilitates inpatient consultation services to rural facilities . Without these services , the number of transfers to UAB during the pandemic would have been higher . Internally , the UAB Stroke Service provided telehealth consults to our own Emergency Departments . Orthopaedic Surgery and Neurosurgery consults will go live in the near future .
