Vector
• Vector images are made of mathematical paths( lines, curves, shapes)
• Common formats: SVG(. svg), AI(. ai), EPS(. eps)
• Infinitely scalable( no quality loss)
• If you zoom in, you’ ll see clean, sharp edges at any size
• Art MUST be subitted in VECTOR format
Raster
• Raster images are made of pixels( tiny colored squares)
• Common formats: JPEG(. jpg) and PNG(. png)
• Lose quality when resized( pixelation)
• Not ideal for logos or sharp graphics
• If you zoom in, you’ ll eventually see blurry squares
• Common File Mistake: You cannot simply“ Save As” a JPG or PNG into AI, EPS, or SVG and get a true vector file.
▪ This only wraps a pixel image inside a vector file, it does NOT make it scalable or print-ready.
• Proper Fix: The artwork must be recreated or converted( vectorized) using a design software like Adobe Illustrator. This process is called vector tracing.
