YOUR CURRICULUM
“ When I ’ m here , I don ’ t worry about my job . I ’ m in the zone and focused on coursework .”
What preparation is needed before you arrive on campus ?
About five weeks before class , your professor will be in touch with any pre-work or reading you need to do . This could be relevant articles or case studies . You can review some professors ’ presentations in advance , too . There is usually a pre-assignment , like an essay , due a week before you arrive on campus . Then , around a week before class , you will be divided into a team of about five other students for a group assignment . The entire cohort is on a WhatsApp group to stay connected and support each other if anyone needs help or clarification .
How is a typical EMBA weekend structured ?
The framework for each class stays consistent , but the content covered changes . We start at 9:00am on Friday with the professor ’ s presentation . Class is very interactive — people take notes , but they also ask questions and discuss . We get a break around 10:30am for coffee and then another break at midday for lunch . Classes last until 5:00pm , when we meet to start strategizing for our group assignment — usually due on Monday , so you have to hit the ground running !
“ I ’ ve really gotten to know my classmates . We like to go out to eat together , try new restaurants , or grab a drink after class .”
How challenging is it to fit your studies into your schedule ?
The way to make this work is to be very organized . I usually take a day off before and after class . Jet lag is no joke , but luckily I ’ m one of those people who can sleep on a flight ! Then , I try to fit some time in after work and on the weekends to focus on my coursework . There isn ’ t as much time for meeting with friends after work at the moment — but they understand and are very supportive . The program requires a considerable amount of dedication and sacrifice , but I went in determined to make it work .
