Earliest fonts in our history Throughout our history, our main steadily changed and adapted to what was “in” in the Europe then. But, I´ll talk with you only those that were on the start. Glagolitic script – the earliest known font in our history. It was used throughout the land of the Great Moravia, the first state including lot of Czech Slavs, and it formed its culture. It has soon spread up to another countries like Croatia and others. The font itself was developed by Greek priest from Thessaloniki, called Cyril and inspired by Greek and Phoenician alphabet. Cyrillic script – a font developed to use for writing Old Church Slavonic. You could call it a sister font of Glagolitic script. Its main descendant is called “azbuka”. It was developed at the end of the 9 th century in Bulgaria and not by Cyril. Carolingian minuscule – a font of Latin nature, that was used during 10th to 13 th century. It was developed in the land of Francia in the age of Carolingian renaissance.
