This Czech classic comedy with a bit of tragedy was nominated for the Academy Award for the Best Foreign Film. It won the Special Jury Award in Montreal World Film Festival.
In January 2007 it was chosen by 22 % Czechs as the best Czech comedy in history.
The plot: Otík, the main character, a mentally retarded young man, lives in a little village. The sweet-tempered Otík works as an assistant truck driver with Mr. Pávek, his older colleague and practical-minded neighbor. Pávek ' s family takes care of Otík, whose parents are dead. the film is about solidarity, friendship, love
There various characters, real humans with every-day problems and their substories. It is full of funny situations and also irony, but the humour is not cheap, it is intelligent and wise. Several quotes and scenes from the film are famous.
