7 th March, we visited the Mayor of Děčín, Marie Blažková at the Děčín Town Hall. She was very kind and even though she had just finished a long day she found time for us in the evening for anhour interview. We told her something about our magazine too and asked her many questions about her job and Děčín.
1. Why did you study social pedagogy and would you like to work in a kindergarten?
After basic school I studied secondary pedagogical school. I didn‘ t really want to teach but I studied also secondary economical school because I needed it. And later I studied at university. I studied social policy and social work. I worked in the Labour Office with people. Social work was closest to me. I worked with unemployed and physically disabled people.
2. Did you think in your childhood about working in politics?
Never. But analyzing my life backwards, already at basic school I was the class president, then at secondary school. I didn’ t have any problems with speaking up. I used to protect others and express my opinion. Others asked me to represent them when we were solving things.
3. Do you think that you are treated differently as a woman politician?
