I’ m not a career politician in contrast with some people. And I think that my place is here now. Time is running out fast. Sometimes you see results of your work the 3 rd or 4 th year of your term. Many things have improved. One cannot leave his work in progress. I want to work on things here 100 %, not also in the Ústí region. The work is hard but I like influencing things and improving them.
11. How to save face in politics?
I am persuaded I save my face. It’ s very hard. You must be very distinctive, be sure of yourself and don’ t change your mind quickly. Don’ t get influenced and trust mainly yourself. Politics can be very tricky, you do not choose your colleagues, the citizens vote for them. And be a soloist a bit, it is sad but you can’ t make deep friendships. However, I try to make a good team here for collaboration. Ona cannot do everything. I believe you must say the truth to people even if it is not popular. Don’ t promise what you can’ t keep and check information from various sources.
12. Were you surprised of something when you got this post?
Many people speak about doing the right things but after getting to politics and functions they are the same as the ones they had criticized. Unpleasantly I was surprised that many people want to do something for themselves from the town money. This is a big disappointment.
Next, I still have to persuade people, clerks. Speaking abilities are important. Some people do not study things in detail and are not prepared to support their arguments. I am tired, after work I do not feel like speaking.
Politics reflects people, it is a mixture of different characters, good ones, bad ones. The same would be with doctors, etc.
13. Do you have some bad experiences with journalists and gossip?
In our region there aren’ t journalists that write about big causes. And there weren’ t any attacks on my person. It is funny that some journalists write lies, typically on the Internet, without asking for information. They can be even vulgar.
I can be in a swimsuit in my garden, nobody cares and I do not care much. I do nothing bad, I do not lie and steal. I am natural.
14. Do you have favourite food, color or place in Děčín?
I love nature and being outdoors. I love the Elbe canyon or the kitschy view from the Shepherd’ s Wall. I live on the Red Hill. I am into going for a walk, watching flowers in blossom. We have lovely views to the Děčín valley.
My favourite color is blue, I do not wear it much now, but almost every time I wear professional darker clothes, a suit. Privately I like bright female colours. I am not a fashion victim but have to dress up for work.
From meals, I love fruit, mainly apricots, Czech plums, and grapes a lot and typical Czech meals, gratin potatoes and pasta. My life does not twist around food. I cook dumplings but not love them.
