♫ I’ m Dreaming of a White Christmas... ♫
While our Christmas this( last) year were not so much snowy as muddy, we cannot complain at the moment. It started snowing on the New Year’ s Day and with little thaws it’ s still holding up. It’ s nothing unusual. Almost every person that I’ ve ever met abroad and who has visited the Czech Republic said exactly the same thing.“ Lovely architecture, really cold.” It even came up in the brainstormings( Turkey, Spain, I’ m looking at you two). Granted, we don’ t have particularly warm weather at the moment, ranging from 0 ° C to-11 ° C, but we live in very moderate climate. And not, as my friend put it, arctic wasteland. We have 4 seasons regularly changing( lots of people are looking forward to the spring). We have mixture of continental and ocean climate – that means we don’ t have long droughts, thankfully. Sometimes, though, we have too much water. As our town, Děčín, is located on one of the lowest points of the Czech Republic, we have, from time to time, a bit of flood coming from Germany. It’ s nothing serious but it makes getting to school for people living on the other side of the river( Labe) a little bit trickier. And neither we are scared of strong winds … As our borders are guarded by mountains and a great areas of trees, most of the winds slow down to a breeze.
