Ostrava
Situated in the north-east of Czech Republic, 15km from borders with Poland, it is former industrial city thanks to big lodges of coalfield. It was a centre of coal-mining and metallurgy. Today, it is more of a cultural city with numerous theatres, galleries and other cultural facilities. You can visit places such as The National Moravian-Silesian Theatre, Puppet Theatre, Comenius Gardens, or one of the many churches. Because of coal-mining effects, Ostrava has the biggest smog concentration of all cities in Czech Republic.
Plzeň
A city in the west of Czech Republic, it is the fourth most populous city with population about 170 000 people. The city itself is known for Pilsner beer and Škoda Automobiles. The brewery in Plzeň is the oldest brewery to survive until now. Its history is reaching near of 14 th century( although not with name Pilsner). Škoda company was important for Austro-Hungarian and Czech engineering.
Zlín
A city in south-east of Moravia. its history is connected to Bata shoes, which supplied Austro-Hungarian army during WWI. After that, he built more factories all around the Europe, as well as USA or Canada( around 20 factories). The company still exists, with its centre in Lausanne in Switzerland. Bata was also a developer of“ Bata prize”, which changed the usual prize of for example 399 Czech Crowns to 400 Crowns. Why? Because he was honest
