ITALY: Our school
Our High School for Commerce, Economics and Technology “Leonardo Sciascia” is a
medium-size school, with nearly 700 students. It is entitled after Leonardo Sciascia, a famous
Sicilian writer. Our school offers different courses: Administration, Accounting, Marketing,
Tourism and Information Technology. But we are in the Tourism course, because we love
foreign languages and also to learn about other cultures.
We attend the third year of high school. We start lessons at 8 o’ clock. We have a midmorning break at 11 o’ clock, then the lessons continue until 13.00 and two days a week the
lessons finish at 13.45. In our school we have a gym, a language laboratory, three computer
labs, a science lab, because Chemistry and Physics are two obligatory subjects to study in the
first and in the second year. In our school we have a large assembly hall and various corridors
full of classrooms.
From the third year until the fifth we do a job placement project that helps us to learn about
the world of work, for example social as well as work skills. We are enthusiastic about this
project as it is a useful experience that we can include in our Curriculum Vitae in the future.
