Three weeks ago we travelled to Cornwall to play St Blazey and came away with a point , drawing 3-3 after coming back from an early two goal deficit. Last Wednesday night a healthy crowd watched a good content against local rivals Witheridge. We competed well seeing they are challenging for the title. Witheridge were the better side with many quality players. I suppose it’s a reflection of the times, but the players on their bench probably ’cost’ more expenseswise, than the budget for the entire Elmore side! The biggest problem I have had this season has been fielding a full side as evidenced by the fact I have had to use 36 different players so far. And on Wednesday night I had this problem again – I’m not sure what the answer is. The Under-18s played the night before and both Jack Bryant and Lewis Fraser received little knocks so I did not think it fair to name them in the squad. I have put in seven days for a couple of players and hope that I will be able to add to the squad before the end of the season. It’s been good to see some fine weather recently as all that rain we had earlier has affected the club financially, with only one home game played between the beginning of December and the end of February. This is one reason why we have agreed to switch the visit of Newquay to Horsdon Park from Wednesday, April 23, to Saturday, May 10. On a final note, I would like to congratulate the U18s for their fine win in their top of the table clash over Chard on Tuesday night – it was the ideal tonic after their defeat in the Devon Boys U18 Cup last weekend. ..............................................
