banter
Good afternoon and
welcome to our visitors
Plymouth Parkway, who, after
their 6-0 hammering of
Godolphin Atlantic on Tuesday
night, now lie in third place –
ominously just five points behind
league leaders Exmouth, but with three games
in hand. They are also just two points behind second
placed Ivybridge Town with a game in hand.
It looks like the title will go down to the wire and we
will have a big say in it. Apart from today’s visitors,
Ivybridge Town (next Wednesday, April 9), Bodmin
Town (Saturday, April 26), and Exmouth Town
(Wednesday, April 30) all have to travel to Horsdon
Park. There is also the juicy local derby away to near
neighbours Witheridge on Easter Friday (April 18).
I am confident I will be able to field stronger teams in
these matches than I have been able to field recently.
In our last home match against Bovey Tracey we
produced a much better display and throughly
deserved our victory.
However, I again had to make wholesale changes for
last Saturday’s visit to Godolphin with seven of the
team that faced Bovey unavailable – and no
substitutes either.

The scoreline flattered Godolphin.
We came out strongly after the
break and made it a real contest.
When Steve Harris made it 2-1 it
looked like we would go on
and win. It was still only 2-1
with 15 minutes remaining.
However, the glut of recent
matches, and the fact I had no
substitutes, told as we ran out
of steam in the closing
minutes. We were on our knees
at the death and Godolphin
were able to net four goals.
I even had to keep Steve Harris
on the field despite him having
cracked two ribs!
Enjoy
