Good afternoon and welcome
to our visitors from Bodmin.
Buxs
banter
The selection problems I have had
all year just won’t go away, and
once again I have had to juggle, cajole
and beg players to turn up for the two
away games played since our last home match.
Apart from a five game spell in November/December when
we had a settled side and won three and drew the other
two, I have had no continuity in the side whatsoever.
In my day, if you were good enough, you wanted to play at
the highest level you could and were disappointed and
sometimes embarrassed if you did not play for the first
team. Today that attitude seems to have all changed.
It has also become evident that limited finances are
playing a part – but we are not the only club suffering from
this. Today it is very difficult to get players to travel.
With this season now coming to an end Elmore needs to sit
down and decide what it wants, what level of football it
wants and the direction it want to take, and then decide a
structure to achieve this going forward.
In truth, at present the first team does not seem to be a
priority – it seems it is no longer the flagship of the club.
It will be a tragedy if this club does not or cannot offer the
highest level of football available to the
very talented players we have, as well
as the ambitious Under-18s and
Under -16s at the club. We need to
sort something out or we will lose
them to other clubs.
I really do feel some do not
understand how difficult this
season has been just in putting a
side together. Like most other
weeks this season, I have
constantly been on the phone
every day this week trying to get
a side together for today – my
phone bills are horrendous.
Elmore deserves better than this.
We need to sort it out NOW.
Enjoy
BUXS
