olin Kaepernick is a very influential black athlete he is an NFL player and last season played for the Forty Niners. He is more influential than most athletes because of the movement he started not only in athletics but in the United States in 2016. Colin started his movement by sitting on the bench while the national anthem played at his NFL games. It then progressed into him kneeling while the song played. This was a very big deal because the football games are on national television for everyone to see and during the national anthem all people in the stadium are supposed to rise, remove their hats, and cover their hearts to show respect for the country and the people who fought to keep it free. Kaepernick decided to kneel because he wanted to bring racial wrongdoings against African Americans and minorities in the United States to the forefront of conversation.
