Creeper shine most in their theatrical moments,
however. ‘Down Below’ will become a staple after the
reception it receives every time it’s played and ‘Misery’
will forever be an anthem for a crowd of people who
have been sad and found solace in this band. It is no
more evident that magic is happening than when ‘I
Choose To Live’ closes the set. A tender song full of
meaning and empowerment, this song is the sonic
embodiment of the callous heart patch Creeper fans
wear. As Will himself says, wearing the patch is a
promise the fans and band make to one another, to be
family and to care; it is a genuine and moving notion,
one which many tonight will carry with them for a long
time to come. It is a fitting note to end the night on.
Trying to encapsulate the night in a series of words
just doesn’t give justice to the event Creeper have put
on every night of this tour. From the lighting, to the
setlist, to the performance, to the merch, everything is
thought out and beautiful. Creeper are truly one of the
best live acts the UK has to offer, and with a slot on
the Download main stage this summer, the best is yet
to come.
