After being a band for a whole decade and releasing eight studio albums Sacramento Prog Rockers Dance Gavin Dance have a lot to talk about . Elite caught up with guitarist Will Swan in Brighton on the second night of their UK leg of the 10 year anniversary tour to talk about touring their new album , how it feels to be on the road with four vocalists , why touring with an injured leg is bad and loads of other things .
You just started the UK leg of this tour last night in Oxford . How did you like it so far and is there anything in particular that you ’ re looking forward to ?
W : Definitely London ! It ’ s my favourite of the cities here but it ’ s definitely cool to see a few different places in the UK because usually we just play just a few and on this tour we play a lot more . It ’ ll definitely give me a better perspective on the country itself .
You ’ re still on the 10 year anniversary tour of Dance Gavin Dance . How does it feel to be a band for a whole decade now and is there anything specific you look back on and think “ How on earth did that happen ”?
W : Not really to be honest . I don ’ t look back or forward too much and try to focus on doing the task at hand . It ’ s kind of how I ’ ve gotten through everything .
It certainly feels like it ’ s gone by really fast . When I do look back it all seems like a blur . Like I could go back to the beginning of the band in my head and it doesn ’ t feel so far off . Time just moves so fast , man ! Especially when you try to stay in the moment it is crazy to think of all the things that we ’ ve been through just to keep everything together . ( laughs )
After all these years of touring . How does it feel to be on the road again with Jonny ( Craig ) and Kurt ( Travis )?
W : It ’ s fun , man ! It ’ s like a stroll down memory lane . It ’ s definitely something interesting and unique for a band
