A Loving Heart...A Winning Attitude
Yet, instead of getting discouraged, frustrated, and possibly giving up, she responded by making one smart change.
She left College Station, Texas, and moved back home to attend a local community college where class sizes enabled a more intimate learning environment.
This move resulted in less campus life distractions and more intense focus on her studies, which ultimately set a solid foundation to earn a collection of degrees including: Medical Computer Science AA, Toxicology focused BS, Emerging Diseases focused BS, Master’s in Forensic Science, and a PHD in Health Psychology.
COMPETITIVE SPIRIT
We asked Dr. Staveley how does she overcome life's obstacles. She simply says, “I love to race to win!”. Her never-give-up attitude has been a driving force helping her complete academic studies and be competitive in the sports world.
Today, she is a highly competitive triathlete. In fact, she describes herself as a “Marathon Maniac” and a “Half Fanatic”.

This issue we’re pleased to present Dr. Judy Staveley. She's someone you want to know. And that's because she will inspire you through her unique combination of creative intelligence, selflessness, persistence of vision and disciplined work ethic.
These attributes have helped her earn the titles of: Forensic Scientists, College Professor, Book Author, Biologist and Tri-Athlete, to name just a few passions that keep her busy.
RESILIENT
To stay energized and maintain a positive outlook she mentions her secret is, “how she responds to life’s setbacks.” One example is her first year in college.
You see, after thriving in high school she accepted a scholarship to attend Texas A & M University. However, the large-sized lecture setting was not the most ideal learning environment for her.
students for being the motivational force to try competitive sports. Her love for mentoring students was on full display at the University of Alaska Anchorage where she won the Chancellor's Award, an award given by the student body for setting high standards in teaching.
As a National Health/Fitness Specialist she volunteers in several community programs to initiative “health in youth sports” and is a member of the USA Swimming, USA hockey, and USA Triathlon organizations.
Active.com, a multi-sport community with about 6.5 million members recognized her mentoring and leadership skills, and along with her high-performance competitions, the sports company decided to make her a sponsored athlete.
