Property prices across the UK expected to rise 35% within one decade Halifax and Nationwide recently reports annual house price inflation rate at 8.7 % and 9.5 %. Explained by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors the price lift is driven by buyers chasing a continues short supply of decent properties for sale. RICs forecasts the average UK house price will be pushed up 35 % by 2020 and will spread all over the country. While recent records shows that property values in London soared by 17.7 % in February compared to the same month a year earlier. That rate of inflation is now quadruple of the rate of the rising wages, which ONS figures reveals annual pay now increases at 1.4 %. ‘It is a major concern that we are not seeing enough houses coming on to the market. For the market to operate effectively, we desperately need more homes in areas where people want to buy and want to live. Until this happens, we’re likely to see prices continue to increase.’ said ONS’s chief economist Simon Robinson. Predicted by estate agent Savills house prices are expected to rise by 25% over five years, not only London but some areas outside of the city are also tipped to rise 25 %.
