Named a boys’ basketball All-American in 1995 by Parade Magazine, Kenny “K9” Thomas has been making a name for himself for some time now. Picked up 22nd by the Houston Rockets during round one of the draft in 1999, he was one of the only rookies to lead his team in rebounds during the 1999-2000 season. He was then traded to the Philadelphia 76ers in 2002 before being traded to the Sacramento Kings for Chris Webber in 2005, bringing a strong player and leader to call our city home. Once known as the King’s best rebounder and post defender, what makes K9 special is not his consistency and high statistics, but that he played for the love of the game, and never stopped excelling.
Although he retired from the NBA a few years back in 2010, he hasn’t slowed down and is still involved with aspects of the game and beyond. Starting Kenny Thomas Enterprises in 2007, his main focus now is building promising business ventures, and promoting stronger future generations through his charity work and leadership.
