The shallow hollowness of the ego can create a nuance that masks an individual from the greatness upon which they seek. The old adage “what you seek is seeking you” is an energetic truth to the notion within the commotion for Soul growth. The shallowness is the surface that is crested in a gradation of the old paradigm systems that no longer serve most of us. For a moment, close your eyes and remember a time when you felt small. What was binding you? What was holding you back? Soul’s do not wish to play small and when this happens, it creates havoc within the Soul; allowing the ego to bring forth its notion of making you cower. The ego makes you feel small, rather than big.

Why would you wish to play small? Imagine a small box. Now try to fit yourself in that box. Seems like insanity of a sort, and it is. The ego provides so many ways to keep us tamed. I say, you are meant to be free. The Divine did not create you to play small; you were created to evolve to the grandest of grand. The point is to have fun, play in a harmonious manner that sets your Soul on fire with creativity. Living with the positive energy of our absolute truth.

The truth upon which you seek is deeply within you. You mustn’t forget. Rather forgive not only those who taught you, but also yourself for being taught. Unravel the hurts and pains that the ego has caused. The ego wishes for you to forgo learning, growing, evolving. It is fear. This fear can cause resistance. The option is to disallow and dispel anything that is not of your truth.

Your Soul is simple and sweet. It is a must to disallow the complexity of the ego. Years ago, my youngest son created a beautiful poem for me. “Kind, Intense, Syrupy” is a stanza from his poem, and I smile every time I read it. “Syrupy”, how incredibly grand is that! When I asked him what he meant, he replied, “Grand beyond the basic concept of sweet.” A wise Soul in a very young body. It took years for me to gain a complete understanding of his beautiful verse. The gift is a treasure - the puzzle pieces that encase the poem, the colors and bits of images that I adore; and of course, the message, which is simple, sweet and full of pure love.

I use this example of my child’s gift to me to show you that it is a gift for us all. A Divine message for each of us. “Love us Simply, Love us Sweetly.” You may need to remind yourself of this - for we must love ourselves first. If you are anything like me, then you may be your own worst enemy. My truth is that I am as tough as nails on myself. Yet, I have all of the patience in the world for others. One day, my ever-critical ego was trying to get the best of me - to tear her down, telling me that I was not good enough. When the siren sounded, Pompeii exploded and I swept myself into a sea of tears. When it was all said, and done, I saw my son’s poem; which brought forth all of the struggles that my boys have endured. I have always fought for them, telling them that they are not disabled on the Autism Spectrum; I would just remind them that they are different-abled. As I thought about how much I always try to protect my boys, I considered the importance of protecting myself in that same way - loving her in that same way. Reminding myself of the simple sweetness of that and of my truest self - simple, syrupy. After some deep breaths, I remembered who I was and chased that blasted ego away.

I believe we can change, altar and recognize that we are worthy. There is no ego patrol of condemnation. The ego is at its worst when it is trying to control you. Once you acknowledge the absolute truth of your own personal power; the ego loses its control. Your power returns to you and you too are Simply Sweet!
