How They Met | Rachel and JJ met when they were kids at a
summer camp in upstate New York on Echo Lake. Over three
summers, they shared a mutual interest in tennis and bonded
over tournaments and practices. Almost 25 years later in NYC,
they reconnected on Facebook. They shared a brief relationship, went their separate ways, and in 2015, reconnected once
more on LinkedIn. They fell in love, got engaged six months
later and four months after that got married. Timing sure is
everything!
The Ceremony | For Rachel and JJ’s ceremony, Alain
Simon Fleurs and Marsha Brumer of MB Events created
the most magical setting inside Le Windsor Ballrooms. JJ’s
family Rabbi led the Jewish Orthodox rituals, Rachel’s childhood Cantor from New York chanted the Seven Blessings and
the aisle stretched along the length of the Peacock Alley to
a gorgeous lavender chuppah. It was a meaningful and aweinspiring ceremony.
The Reception | To honour the couples love of sweets,
guests were treated to an enormous dessert bar and “sugaring
off” station with maple treats (among others) for the reception. Later in the night, a celebratory “mezinka” dance was
performed by JJ’s groomsmen and best friend.
The Decor | Rachel decided to keep her decor to a minimum
in order to place emphasis on the gorgeous florals provided
by Alain Simon Fleurs. The chuppah for the ceremony stood
out blissfully against the marbleized backdrop of Le Windsor
Ballrooms, while Rachel’s bouquet—made up of phalaenopsis
orchids, Picasso calla lilies and sterling roses—was the most
extravagant display she’d ever seen.
