Electronic Sound July 2015 (Club Edition) | Page 3
HELLO
welcome
to the
Electronic Sound
music club
When Electronic Sound was a quarterly magazine, our biggest
headache was finding enough space to fit everything in. Electronic
music is in very rude health right now and we’re not just talking about
today’s music makers, as the ongoing interest in tracing the genre’s
history back over the decades shows little sign of letting up.
Which bodes well for all concerned because now we’re a monthly we
can cover much more ground on a much more regular basis. Thing is,
we’re finding our headache is roughly the same as it was before. We
might be biased, but when we sit back for five minutes at the end
of each issue and look at what we’ve put in the magazine, someone
always pipes up with something along the lines of “This seems to be
our best issue yet”.
So this month, in our best issue yet, our cover star is Mr John Foxx,
someone who needs no introduction but is getting one anyway. First
as the singer with Ultravox and then as a solo artist, he is one of the
most respected figures on the electronic scene. With two new albums
out and a third on the way, the latter a retrospective covering his early
years, he chats past, present and future with our man Chris Roberts.
We’ve got a top drawer supporting cast too. DJ Shadow talks about his
Liquid Amber label and his Nite School Klik project, Suicide biographer
Kris Needs meets Martin Rev and Alan Vega on the eve of a very
special live appearance in London, and we have lunch with synth
godfather Peter Zinovieff and go backstage with Scandi electropop
sensation Karin Park. And that’s without even mentioning our pieces
on Laurent Garnier, A Guy Called Gerald, Paul Hartnoll, Richard
Fearless...
Righto. Won’t keep you then. Lots to read. We need to get back to
work on the next issue, which is already looking like it could be our
best issue yet.
Electronically yours
