Infrared

Infrared

Infrared hasa wavelength just greater than visible light spectrum but less than that of microwaves. Infrared radiation has a wavelength from about 800 nm to 1 mm, and is emitted particularly by heated objects.

Infrared was discovered in 1800 by Sir Frederick William Herschel. To find this he placed one bulb directly in the color and the other two past the spectrum to act as controls. Herschel noticed two trends, first that the temperature of the thermometer placed in the color was greater than the controls. The second trend was a temperature increase from violet to red. Since the temperature changed from violet to red we get the word infared. Infrared can be reflection.
