to some extent – from approving holiday leave to managing expenses – and over the coming years HR departments will be purely focused on the strategic , rather than the functional .

CUSTOMER SERVICE
Yes , the ‘ problem solving ’ customer service , or dispute resolution , will still need real life people , but for the repetitive tasks – dealing with queries , making appointments – automation will do just fine .

While some surgery is done by robots – controlled by humans thousands of kms away – doctors and nurses will be real-life
humans for the foreseeable future . The ability to listen , interpret symptoms and pick up on minute detail means they are protected .

If kids won ’ t listen to their parents , what chance do robots have ?! But seriously , teachers have to change tack in an instant , listen to their students , respond to challenging questions and coach and mentor their people . When you ’ re teaching humans , you need to be , well , human .

ARTISTS AND CREATIVES
The creativity that humans are capable of far exceeds that of which a robot can manage , and consequently people who make
their money from being creative are likely to last the course .

4 PSYCHOLOGIST

Who better to understand the human brain than another human . Being able to interpret , empathise , understand and contextualise the emotions and behaviour of another requires a level of intelligence that simply can ’ t be artificial .

ELECTRICIANS AND
PLUMBERS Last but not least … you ’ re safe . Plumbers and particularly electricians are reliant on their ability to listen , understand , interpret and creatively solve a problem . And – for now at least – that ’ s impossible to automate . n
