Listening ’ s vital – after all , you often need to hear what the client ’ s describing , be that a problem that needs fixing or something they need created – understand it and remember it !
FIRST-RATE COMMUNICATION SKILLS
Being able to communicate well with customers , colleagues and other trades is vitally important for every electrician . You might do a great job , but if you ’ re not pleasant and can ’ t offer more in conversation than a grunt or two , you won ’ t be invited back .
A LOT OF PATIENCE
Sometimes you might need patience with an overbearing client , other times a good dollop of patience to successfully complete a frustrating job . Deep breaths , stay calm !
CRACKING COLLABORATION SKILLS
Working onsite with plumbers , builders , glaziers and plasterers can be a bit of a challenge – there ’ s only so much space to go round . But top-notch collaboration skills are essential . If you ’ re good to work with as part of that A-star team , you ’ re on for a steady stream of business .
