FORD ' S WILDTRAK X TAKES THE RANGER TO GNARLY HEIGHTS
Ford is planning to release a new-gen pick-up next year , but in the meantime it ' s sprucing up the award-winning Ranger and flooding it with testosterone .
Take the Wildtrak X , Ranger ' s action and adventure ute .
It ' s copped a huge ' T ' hit , rocking a gnarly nudge and LED bar and flared grille nostrils any wildebeest would be proud of .
It ' s also gained nifty wheel arch flares and
18-inch alloys , rounding out the squared-off , spoiling for a fight look .
Beyond the macho stylings , there ' s a snarling 3.2-litre turbo-diesel five-cylinder engine banging out 147kW of raw power ( a lively 2.0-litre , four-cylinder turbo-diesel is also available ) and 470Nm of torque .
A sipper , not a guzzler , the Wildtrak X zips along on 8.9L / 100km and there ' s also a whopping 3500kg towing capacity for the
pleasure of dedicated weekend warriors . Inside , the mod cons are plentiful : Ford ’ s excellent Sync infotainment system is a cinch to use and the sports-trim leather seats pump up the comfort factor .
The Wildtrak X may soon be part of Blue Oval history , but it has enough cool kit and grunt to remain a fixture on Aussie roads for years to come .
