Although there are many jobs where a traditional perforated steel cable tray is the more suitable product to use , basket tray sales are on the increase . Data centres , retail outlets and warehousing are all using wire mesh for its speed of installation and on-site flexibility . The ability to create bends and shapes on-site , for example , can be a massive time saver , especially if the tray sections are joined using the new FastConnect coupler system released by Tamlex .
In addition to the coupler , a variety of bends , tees and risers for wire mesh are also readily available from Tamlex , providing solutions for many of the general configurations encountered .

Using the FastConnect coupling system is simple . Users can easily clip together lengths of basket tray with no
need for special tools . All lengths of basket are supplied with a FastConnect coupler at one end , however , if basket needs to be cut down , the coupler is simply unclipped and reattached to the cut basket end . Not only does this provide a very versatile system , it also creates a strong joint , since couplers span the whole width of the tray .
As a further advantage , FastConnect utilises the latest plating technology – a BS EN ISO : 9227:2017 compliant galvanic coating . This iridescent , fluoride-free plating is superior to the more commonly used electrozinc and dichromatic electrozinc , as well as being more environmentally friendly in its manufacture .
