ANNUAL REPORT The Electrical Engineering Association (EEA) was one of the active associations this year. Working with the motto of “Bridging the gap between the industries and academics”, the Electrical Engineering Association organized many co-curricular and technical activities this academic year. EEA has also encouraged the students into extra-curricular events as a result of which the Department of Electrical Engineering grabbed the first place the Group Dance in Zero Gravity 2014. It also encouraged students into sports as a result of which the electrical engineering students grabbed a lot of medals in the inter NIT competition including the player of the tournament trophies and the best player awards. In addition to this the editorial board of EEA has successfully published the SPARK, the monthly magazine and Electrage, the annual electrical magazine to update the students about the various things happening in and around the department and also updating them with the latest technologies developed in various parts of the world. The events organized are as follows: Inaugural Event: The inaugural function of the EEA 2013-14, organized on 11th September 2013 was graced by our honorable Chief Guest Sri Karthikeya Misra IAS, Chairman and Managing Director Northern Power Distribution Company of AP Limited. Addressing the function, Shri Karthikeya Misra with his exceptional oratory skills won over the crowd sharing with us anecdotes about his own journey from the Indian Administrative Service to leading one of the top companies in the power distribution sector in our country. He illuminated us about the challenges faced by the power segment. The session was informative and entertaining at the same time. Teacher’s Day Celebrations EEA events for the academic year kick started with the grand teacher’s day celebrations with the students acknowledging the dedication, guidance and hard work of their beloved teachers. The faculty shared their experiences with the institute and its students and urged us to do the parent department proud. It was an interactive and fun-filled evening with several cultural performances as well. Aurora – Fresher’s event. The exclusive 3-day event for first years were conducted on 24-9-2013 in NSH which was attended by over a 100 participants. This hugely successful event was organized by the second years to give a spirited start to the fresher’s 4 years journey. The first day was very amusing with many light –hearted events like JAM, Role Play and aptitude tests. The shortlisted candidates had to go through the group discussion round on the second day. The final shortlisted candidates were interviewed by the final years and Mr and Ms Fresher were selected on the third day. 6
