Note from Research Scholar’s Desk
-B. Durga Hari Kiran
Necessity is the mother of invention, when the need becomes imperative; you are
driven to find the ways of accomplishing it. Research is the need of the hour,
towards which the world is looking to find the answers that it is facing. The growth
of a country was no longer be calculated by per capita income, but the intellectual
property that it owns. The education should no longer be confined to books. Every
individual should have a curiosity to learn and that curiosity will drive the human
race.
As a NITian’s we should be an epicenter for innovation and research. We should
not restrict ourselves to a desk job. Electrical Engineers are the fulcrum for
countries industrial growth. According to a report, over 300 million people in India
have no access to continuous or quality power. Electrical energy will improve the
people economic and social conditions.
At present India is facing a Power deficit. The load is increasing day by day and
power plant installations were not at par with the increase in load. Other problem
it is facing is of losses and theft. These issues laid path for new research areas like
SMART GRIDS and ENERGY
MANAGEMENT. The other areas that an Electrical Engineer can look into are of
Power Quality and Power Controllers. Engineers should look into these areas not
only for research, but also as an entrepreneur opportunity.
We are the future of our nation’s development.
