Aatchuqtuutiłiq Avatmun Sharing is how Iñupiaq care for each other. It is how we make sure those who have less are cared for. y y Promote and teach sharing by making sure that the first catch or gathering is shared and celebrated with our children. y y Make sure non-Iñupiat who live with us or are visiting are included, so they may feel welcome. y y Always be available when someone needs help. y y Advise all young people to help Elders with chores and to share with them. y y Advise children to respect the land they live on, the animals they hunt, and the importance of sharing the catch. y y Elders must demonstrate and advise others about sharing the land with others, especially the harvesting of its resources. y y Iñupiat must also be advised to share food with children, widows, widowers and orphans. y y Elders should promote and encourage family time through family dinners and family gathering to teach obedience, listening, morals, respect for all and to maintain our traditional way of life. 3 IÑUPIAT ILITQUSIAT IÑUPIAT ILITQUSIAT 4
