In prior times domestic skills were primarily the work of women. Besides the hard work
of keeping a clean and healthy household, they were required to see that the entire
family were clothed, food preserved, prepared, fed and shared. The men built the homes
necessary in each seasonal subsistence site. Now many of these responsibilities are shared,
including the raising of all children.

y y Teach preserving, preparing, and sewing of skins.
y y Teach children and grandchildren survival skills.
y y Teach children through hands-on experience. Take them out to
harvest seasonal foods and teach them to help others.
y y Teach children plant names (edible or non-edible) and how to
use and preserve them.
y y Organize and help out in women or men’s club so others can
help teach children.
y y Teach the proper use and management of money.
y y Teach the sewing of clothes for family.
y y Elder women must teach women’s roles.
y y Teach camping skills.
