The NANA Regional Elders Council is honored to offer this guide book to you. The
original book was printed in 2001 with funding from Maniilaq Association. At that time
many elders came together to share their experiences on how to teach and practice our
Iñupiaq values. Quyaanna to the many elders who offered the wisdom found in this book.
This year, when we reviewed the book, we chose not to make changes to their work.
Use this book to be your guide to raise children in the Iñupiaq way. We are grateful to
each and every one of you who teach the Iñupiaq values and Iñupiat traditions to all our
children.
