EL SUEÑO AMERICANO: STORIES THAT BUILD A LEGACY

For almost four decades, I have had the privilege of witnessing the journeys of Latino families across our communities.

Through El Clasificado, I have seen how the American Dream is not defined by a single moment, but by a lifetime of effort— built through sacrifice, resilience, and an enduring commitment to family.
Like many in our community, my understanding of that dream begins with my parents. They came to the United States in the 1950s from Ecuador, without family or a support system, and with little certainty about what the future would hold. Their journey was not easy. It was shaped by long hours, difficult choices, and a deep belief that the next generation would have greater opportunities. What I have been able to build stands on the foundation they created.
It is because of stories like theirs— and so many others I have encountered over the years— that this publication exists.
These are not always the stories told on the largest stages, yet they are the ones that quietly shape our communities and strengthen the fabric of this nation.
As we mark the 250th anniversary of the United States, this publication was created with a clear purpose: to recognize individuals whose lives reflect the values that continue to define our country— hard work, perseverance, and the desire to create opportunity for the next generation.
The individuals featured in these pages come from different backgrounds and professions, but they share a common thread.
They build. They contribute.
They uplift others.
In many ways, they represent the true spirit of El Sueño Americano.
Our role in these pages is not to tell their stories for them, but to help bring them forward— to ensure they are seen, honored, and remembered.
It is my hope that their journeys will inspire others to continue building not only for themselves but also for their families and communities.
Because the American Dream is not only something we pursue.
It is something we pass on down.
