We are the beneficiaries of a $ 300-million education. Now it’ s our turn to generate a return on that investment.”
— Sean Salas
“ We didn’ t walk away loaded with a pot of gold,” says Sean. In an ecosystem that glorifies billionaires as if they were the only criterion for success, that honesty stings and liberates at the same time. What they are left with is the enormous satisfaction of having served Latino microbusinesses that generate on average $ 300,000 a year in revenue.“ It was very gratifying to build a business that impacted more than 10,000 small business owners. We deployed $ 250 million in capital to the market,” says Kenny.
They built it sustainably.
They sold it with dignity. And they left their employees in the hands of a leadership they trust.“ I would describe it as a soft landing, and that in itself is something we are very proud of,” says Sean.“ We refer to that in terms of the return we got from that experience: our $ 300-million education. Now it’ s our turn to generate a return on that investment.”
CYBORGS IN MAZATLAN
nuDesk was born from a conviction that arrived in November 2022, when Chat- GPT appeared on the scene and the Salas brothers saw, with almost uncomfortable clarity, what was coming. Now they are dedicated to creating what they call“ cyborgs” from Mazatlán: people trained in artificial intelligence tools who do the work of three or four in the time of one. The numbers already speak for themselves: in their first full year they processed more than $ 200 million in loan originations for their clients.“ Are we on the path to making money? Yes, absolutely,” Sean says flatly. His mother would be proud. ●
