EDUCATION THAT TRANSFORMS LIVES. A COMMUNITY THAT BUILDS FUTURES.
The Salinas family with their four sons, Francisco, Nicolás, Alejandro, and Gabriel.
vancing Latinas in the political and business spheres. She served as president of Latino Bank, one of 25 founders of that institution created to provide capital access to the Latino community. And she crowned her career by becoming the first woman and first Latina to lead the Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce in its 130-year history.“ The doors I have walked through are incredible,” she says.“ And I have not been silent in a single one of those spaces.”
Raúl cites Mark Twain:“ The two most important days in your life are the day you are born and the day you discover why.” For him and María, that discovery came early and clearly.
Their four sons— two pairs of twins— have grown up surrounded by that same spirit. Together, Raúl and María have built something that goes beyond individual achievement: a shared model of leadership rooted in accountability to their community.“ We don’ t do this because it’ s extra,” María has said.“ It’ s simply who we are.”
In a country that often measures ambition by what one accumulates, the Salinas story offers a different ledger— one counted in scholarships funded, houses built, organizations launched, and doors held open for those still finding their way through.
In a country turning 250, their story is a reminder that the greatness of the United States is measured in the people who have built it. ●
