RESUMEN · Actualmente la enseñanza de las ciencias, en particular de la física, se ha
centrado más en el abordaje teórico de los contenidos, que en promover habilidades del
pensamiento creativo, reflexivo y crítico como parte del proceso de enseñanza y aprendi-
zaje. Considerando la problemática de deserción en las carreras de ingeniería y la meta
de alcanzar un mejor nivel educativo, es necesario emplear metodologías que tiendan
a motivar al estudiante en la construcción del conocimiento. En tal sentido, este trabajo
muestra la utilización de diversos materiales y actividades implementadas en la cátedra de
Física 1 de la Facultad de Ingeniería de la UNMDP, destinados no solo a promover la cons-
trucción del conocimiento y competencias profesionales, sino también, un interés crítico de
los estudiantes por el aprendizaje de las ciencias, aspecto que incide en la disminución de
las tasas de abandono y desgranamiento en el ciclo básico de las carreras de ingeniería.

ABSTRACT · Science teaching, particularly physics, has now focused more on the theo-
retical approach to content than on promoting creative, reflective and critical thinking skills
as part of the teaching and learning process.
Considering the problem of desertion in engineering courses and the goal of achieving a
better level of education, it is necessary to employ methodologies that tend to motivate the
student in the construction of knowledge. In this regard, this work shows the use of various
materials and activities implemented in the Chair of Physics 1 of the Engineering Faculty
of the UNMDP, aimed not only to promote the construction of knowledge and professional
skills, but also, a critical interest in the students for the learning of the sciences, an aspect
that affects the decrease of the abandonment rates in the basic cycle of the engineering
careers.
