Sheriff's Posse

The Posse initially formed with the thought of helping the family of an Officer who was killed in the line of duty. In the history of the Posse that did not happen, that is until 2019.

It was an immediate need and the Posse was there within an hour to assist in anyway needed. They first provided monetary support to the family, and then continued by supporting the Sheriff’s Office and employees.

The Posse is always ready to lend a hand (financially) when the needs of the Sheriff’s Office are outside the normal County funding.

There are so many different ways the Posse members have helped the Sheriff’s Office and personnel throughout the years since they began in 2001. Too many to list, but always greatly appreciated by the personnel. Just knowing they have your back, is the greatest contribution of all!

Air Squadron

The Air Squadron was first established in 1985. Currently, the Air Squadron consists of 9 active pilots, each with their own aircraft, who assist the Sheriff’s Office with a variety of air-based missions. They are a group of dedicated volunteers who work with a small team of Sheriff’s Office personnel to coordinate operations. The squadron meets every other month to discuss new business, debrief past missions and plan future missions.

Air Squadron pilots donate their time and use of their aircraft to assist in several areas such as surveillance flights, aerial photo collection and orientation flights. What better way for a newly hired Deputy or Dispatcher to learn the county than to see it from the air? The Air Squadron also assists by providing transportation for the Sheriff, witnesses and other personnel for official needs.

The volunteers of the Sheriff’s Air Squadron are a great group of people who provide a tremendous service to the Sheriff’s Office. Their hard work and assistance is greatly appreciated!

The members of the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Posse support members and

their families of the Sheriff’s Office enthusiastically, financially, and

in any other capacity deemed appropriate in a time of need.
