Where was the art? The live music? Throughout my childhood and into my early college years, there was always a sense of something missing. That’s where Santa Ana comes in: to off er a sense of community. Now, I spend nights with friends in Downtown Santa Ana at The Frida Cinema watching classic horror movies. Other times, I attend concerts and watch dancers, actors and musicians pour their hearts out. With each movement, monologue and melody, the spotlight cascades over them and I transcend from Santa Ana College's Phillips Hall Theatre into diff erent times and places. In short, Santa Ana is very rich and colourful in arts and history. As one of the Lifestyle editors, I remain open minded and inclusive. With my other Lifestyle editor and writers, I wish to report on not only what the public wants but also what Santa Ana is, since there is a lot of misrepresentation. Covering the diff erent perspectives, traditions and languages of the people that preserve and progress the culture in this city has been nothing short of an honor. I can't wait to see what Santa Ana has next. FOLLOW US! Brainstory, a psychedelic-soul band, performed their debut album at the Yost Theater in Downtown Santa Ana Nov. 15.
