EXCLUSIVE MUSIC
Much buzz surrounds Jay Z’s upcoming
music stream program Tidal. However, the
biggest debate is: should you join Tidal’s
new wave?
Jay Z bought the app for $56 million with
other top artists, including Beyoncé, Nicki Minaj, Kanye West and Rihanna. The service gives the artists the power to do what they please with
their music by having people pay for their art, rather than streaming it
for free.
Kanye West’s The Life of Pablo and Beyoncé’s latest single Formation
were released exclusively on Tidal. Kanye’s dedication to only releasing
and updating his new music on Tidal has catapulted the music service
to number one. The app can be purchased with a $19.99 HiFi subscription or $9.99 for a premium subscription with ads. Is it worth the
money? The rise of free music streaming services such as Pandora and
Spotify made purchasing an album a thing of the past. At only $10 a
month you get access to exclusive music that isn’t available anywhere
else. Kanye’s move might just change the music business as we know it.
The Brothers Grimsby
The movie had one of the worst
opening weekends in recent history,
earning only $3.2 million. When it comes
to Sacha Baron Cohen’s work, it’s either
hit or miss. His raunchy and obscene
humor still crosses the line. The crassness
wasn’t endearing and audiences tuned
out. It had its moments, but audience
members could have been laughing with
or at the movie. It was predictable and
the plot seemed like something we’ve all
seen before. Still, some fans of Cohen’s
previous work like Borat or The Dictator
may love this movie.
