un Líder de Seguridad Digital

Active listening to a leader of Digital Security (#DSL/ #DigitalSecLeader)
Andrés Ricardo Almanza Junco
Thinking in a digital reality in such density that passes by moments of high tension, and which today the #LSD is subjected as recent
reports claim it, is necessary that the #LSD develops new and I improved inlets tools for the performance of its functions.
In modern times the leader of Digital Security not only must put all technical capabilities at the service of function but explore and use
human capabilities at the service of its function. Inside the box of core competencies that every leader must have thus to ratify the
different sources related to the leadership is listening. Listen to beyond hearing. Listening involves exploring not only the phonetics of the
interlocutor; on the other hand involves experience in semantics, and in many cases in which there is beyond words. It involves full and
complete attention to the conversation, not only as an act of education, but as an act of construction that allows the key objectives that
are intended to be. Here the question that is left for his reflections
How much are you listening to like # LSD?
Are you listening or are you just listening?
Which of the two do you think is most useful to perform your functions?
Listening is an act of voluntary and independent partner, i.e. the #LSD must decide if you actually listen to and is present in the
conversation. Many of the reports about #CISOs precisely highlight a CISO is known today as the "Doctor NO", that person until they get to
tell you about a situation of reactive way already has said no and that is why in many cases is not taken into account when it comes to
design processes, or products. According to the science listen not only allows to find better answers, but that allows a true connection
between the parties holding a conversation, allow a better flow of information and in concrete terms, it is much more likely to be found
the answers that both seek.
Based on this here are some tools that can be very useful for listening with greater determination processes and looking for results
appropriate according to the situation.
1. Be present: involves let you know to each other that you spend time conversation, be present involves do you know someone who is
interested. Be present does not mean that it may be questioning his interlocutor, or challenge him. Be present involves listening.
Determine at what point as good listening gives a summary of what listening is key to show your interest in the conversation. Allow
timeout is indispensable and makes his interlocutor who is accompanied in the conversation. Be aware of physical postures that adopts
is another way to show presence in the conversation. Ex: If you have a position of arms and crossed legs knows that his interlocutor
will be on the defensive because you are also.
2. Ask: Ask questions are an art and more when you want to have successful conversations; the first thing to keep in mind is the kind of
level of question that takes place; Open-ended questions are those that give greater opportunities to have a conversation. As #LSD is
key to be able to ask questions and allow space to ask all the time. Open-ended questions encourage people to find spaces for
reflection in the same conversation. Ex: In a difficult conversation do it how would you’re...? It might be the way to find possible
solutions when the part that talks is focused on the counterpart is wrong.
3. Paraphrase. Very technique when you want to validate the contents of a conversation; regularly focuses on use of words being possible
tones and intonation of the last words used by the counterparty, either to make a clarification or show presence in the conversation.
This instrument raises the level of connection between the two parties and especially tension released if there is a hostile
conversation.
4. Ask for clarification. Request clarification seeks to show genuine interest in exploring the point of view of the other person. Phrases
like "If I understand correctly, you telling me..." or "are speaking of...?"
5. Tuning. Tuning involves a little more understanding emotions in which is wrapped a conversation; If every conversation no matter the
subject matter that touch involves emotion and active listening can help to identify those emotional elements that is nothing more
than a very effective way of reaching deep to the problem. A #LSD must have high levels of emotional intelligence that will enable
leading tense talks as it is one of the realities of its function.
6. Summarize. Summarize shows that there is interest to find solution to the problems that arise in a conversation. Summarize as the
other tools are keen to resolve, shows the value of that conversation and let lights of the solutions.
7. Empathy. Empathy is key piece of an active listener; be empathetic involves a little set aside judgement in the conversation or that at
least this is not highlighted within it. As #LSD, it is necessary to use empathy to resolve the challenges and tensions common to that
are exposed in everyday life. Truly listen disconnects at the trial; therefore in your next conversation to hear with depth and you will
see that the judgment and the noise of their own bias decreases.
8. Ignorance. A good listener uses it would ignore it as a learning tool, plead ignorant allows you to listen openly and without
preventions. It is the best way to address the position of the speaker that needs to be heard.
With these tools in hand, and insofar as they are practiced a #LSD of insurance will not be in the measure of their progress as complex
conversations; most likely you can take steps to stop being a "Doctor No" and becoming a leader that can advance the solution of their
challenges. Actively listen to best allow a better tuned for the aim to build digital security posture consistent with the organization.
"Let each experience be an experiment to be able to #grow #learn #unlearn #relearn". Aalmanza
What you think that may be the tool you would use? How you can start practicing to be a good listener? Who believes that it can
help you develop this skill? What do you can be your first step?
