T
he world has changed. The global crisis
resulting from the spread of the SARS-
CoV-2 virus led to an avalanche of
setbacks in the daily events of society
and businesses. Organizations such as
insurance companies did not escape this health
catastrophe, which undermined their profitability
and routine operation. The pandemic surpassed
all predictions and will, ultimately, leave job, cultural,
social, and economic scars difficult to erase.
At El Asegurador Magazine we spoke with Jorge
Escalera Alcázar and Luis Luviano Hernández,
CEO and Head of the Crisis Management Practice,
respectively, of Enterprise RISK México.
They gave us a detailed analysis of the consequences
this disease will bring to the business
world. Such disease was a hard test for insurance
companies in Latin America, which had to modify
their business continuity plans and put the
comprehensive risk management system as the
backbone of their operation. Likewise, they had
to take into account financial uncertainty, their
employees’ well-being and safety, corporate reputation,
and the long-awaited but challenging standardization
of operations.
