THE NEW DAWN
I fell into your shadow,
Almost lost all my light.
Promise had set my life aglow,
Yet now darkness is my plight.
I yearn for the times of old,
When I knew my path.
The present is arid and cold,
Just filled with your wrath.
Then one day through the tears,
I realized the eclipse was not total.
Suddenly I could climb up the stairs,
Your blow was serious but not mortal.
Now with each passing hour,
I find the strength to edge away.
Endowed with a new-found power,
I’m learning to hold my sway.
Soon your shadow will be gone,
Into the darkness where it belongs.
I already see a new dawn,
And hear the hope in the songs.
