I CANNOT HIDE
I don’t look like that shadow of myself,
An image distorted by the ripples.
Seems like I’ve cast my hopes on a shelf,
Weighed down by despair that cripples.
Follow that likeness into the depth!
All of it in its gloomy and glum details,
Will make you catch that breath,
As its ghostliness your spirit assails.
Though I seemed filled with life,
Joyous in every word and act,
Those waters mirror a strife,
Casting it fully in the abstract.
Truly the waters reflect what I cannot hide,
The pain that accompanies eacc tough stride.
