HEALTH EDUCATION – EXEMPTIONS # 6164.1
Aids Education ( Ref : General Statute 10-19 ( b )) The Enfield Public Schools will offer systematic instruction on Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome ( AIDS ) as part of the system-wide Health Education Program . Upon the written request of a parent or guardian , exemption will be granted from instruction in this area of Health Education . Family Life Education ( Ref : General Statute 10-16 ( e )) The Enfield Public Schools will offer systematic instruction in Health Education , which may include Family Life Education , in grades K-12 as part of a system-wide program . Upon the written request of a parent or guardian , exemption will be granted from any Family Life Education instruction that , in the opinion of the parent or guardian , is deemed objectionable .
PEST MANAGEMENT PROGRAM # 3512
1.0 Administration 1.1 The Superintendent is responsible for the overall program . Principals are responsible for their schools .
1.2 A Pest Management Coordinator shall be appointed to assist the Superintendent in developing an Integrated Pest Management Program in all the schools . The Coordinator ' s Position Description shall require that she / he develop administrative procedures to implement this Board Policy , to define regulatory compliance , and to distribute information to the schools .

Asbestos Management Plan In accordance with state and federal regulations an Asbestos Management Plan has been developed for all school buildings in the Enfield Public Schools System . To inspect the report for any school facility in Enfield , please contact the Office of the Principal . A copy of the Management Plan for each specific school building is kept in the Principal ’ s office for the respective school . If you have any questions regarding the Asbestos Management Plan , please do not hesitate to contact the Enfield Public Schools , School Facilities Department , Telephone 272-3510 .
SUICIDE / PREVENTION / INTERVENTION # 5140.3 The Enfield Board of Education recognizes that suicide has become a major cause of death among young people and , consequently , is a concern to this school system and the community it serves . The Board recognizes that suicide is a complex issue and that , while the school may recognize potentially suicidal youth , it cannot make clinical assessment of risk and provide in-depth counseling , but must notify the parent or guardian who will be provided with a list of appropriate resources for such an evaluation . Therefore , any school employee who may have knowledge of a suicide threat must take the proper steps to report this information to the school principal or his / her designee .
