COURSE DESCRIPTIONS PHYSICAL EDUCATION/ HEALTH 9 Grade 9 .5 credit (5991) CCP Prerequisite(s): None This class is based on the philosophy that every student should participate in a variety of physical education activities and pursue an active and healthy lifestyle. Emphasis is placed on lifetime sports, an appreciation for lifetime physical fitness, personal wellness as well as team sports. Physical Education units include cooperative games, tennis, fitness and volleyball. Health units include substance abuse prevention, self-esteem, and nutrition. PHYSICAL EDUCATION/ HEALTH 10 Grade 10 .5 Credit (5992) CCP Prerequisite(s): None This class is based on the philosophy that every student should participate in a variety of physical education activities and pursue an active and healthy lifestyle. Emphasis is placed on lifetime sports, an appreciation for lifetime physical fitness, personal wellness as well as team sports. Physical Education units include golf, soccer, and badminton. Health units include human growth and development. PHYSICAL EDUCATION/ HEALTH 11 Grade 11 .5 Credit (5993) CCP Prerequisite(s): None This class focuses on assisting students with enhancing their level of health and fitness by developing life-long skills through a variety of challenging physical activities. Students will select units of study in the areas of physical fitness and wellness, net games, cooperative challenges, invasion games, and lifetime activities. These physical education units include, but are not limited to; tennis, lacrosse, basketball, power walking, volleyball, flag football, pickleball, strength training, floor hockey, soccer, yoga, cooperative games and coneball/handball. Health topics covered are; steroids and performance enhancing drugs, opioids and other prescription drugs, disease prevention, mental health illnesses and community resources. 64
