Prerequisites : Teacher Approval This course is an honors level performing ensemble that requires teacher approval and is for students who are capable of learning specialized vocal literature and choral artistry . Focus is given to understanding the voice as an instrument and learning advanced repertoire . Music from all periods and styles is performed . Experienced musicians are encouraged to join . Attendance at all rehearsals and concerts both in and out of the school day is expected . This course may be repeated for credit .
Prerequisites : None This course is designed to introduce students to the software used in musical composition . With an emphasis on the Macintosh composition software Garageband , students will be guided through the step-by-step process of creating , recording , and editing musical compositions . Students will work on individual projects and present them to the class for feedback , revision and evaluation . Students should have an interest in learning about the fundamentals of creating music and be willing to participate in classroom activities .
Prerequisites : None This course is designed for students who desire the opportunity to explore and learn a step-by-step approach to recording , editing , mixing , and scoring music using computer software . Students will work on individual projects and present them to the class for feedback , revision , and evaluation . There is no prerequisite for this course but a functional knowledge of music technology , piano and music theory would be helpful .
FOUNDATIONS OF MUSIC Grade 9 , 10 , 11 , 12 . 5 Credit ( 5670 ) CCP
Prerequisites : None This course provides students with an introduction to music theory , music styles and composition . Students will learn to read and write notes , rhythms and chords , along with how to listen to and analyze music . The curriculum will include opportunities to compose and arrange music . Technology hardware and software ( where available ) may be utilized to create music , and also train the ear to identify chords , scales , rhythms , and intervals .
