Prerequisite ( s ): passed all previous science courses This course introduces students to the range of health science and personal services careers and the foundational knowledge common among them . Students will learn about the skills , coursework , certification options , and professional opportunities available . In addition , students will learn the industry standard infection control and disinfection techniques , legal and ethical requirements , and measuring and recording practices that are foundational for success in health science .
Prerequisite ( s ): passing grade in Exploratory Health Science ( 5250 ) This course further builds students ’ preparedness by continuing to develop knowledge and skill common to health science and personal service careers . Students will learn basic anatomy and physiology systems , common medical terminology , and effective communication foundational to most health professions .
Prerequisite ( s ): B or better in Biology ( 5211 or 5212 ) This course is specifically designed for college-bound students seriously considering a career in the medical field . The course covers the structure and function of the human body . Extensive dissection is required in this course .
Prerequisite ( s ): B or better in Biology ( 5211 or 5212 ) The goal of the AP Environmental Science course is to provide students with the scientific principles , concepts , and methodologies required to understand the interrelationships of the natural world , to identify and analyze environmental problems both natural and human-made , to evaluate the relative risks associated with these problems , and to examine alternative solutions for resolving and / or preventing them . Students enrolled in this course are required to take the AP exam at the end of the year .
UCONN Course Description : NRME 1000 . Environmental Science Introduction to Earth ’ s biotic and abiotic systems and how humans influence and depend on them . With sustainability as a central theme , specific course topics include : ecology , natural resources management , energy , pollution , human population dynamics , and climate change .
