Prerequisites : None This course explores the roots of American Popular Music beginning with the Minstrel Show and Stephen Foster in the 19 th century , through the development of the jazz , blues , country , Rock ‘ n ’ Roll , hip hop and rap , and finishing with contemporary music and the digital age .
