PLANNING THE HIGH SCHOOL PROGRAM
Planning a course of study is an important and cooperative process . Therefore , students should not make hasty decisions . Course selection involves the student , parents , counselor , and teachers . Careful preparation and planning help to ensure a rewarding educational experience .
When selecting a course of study , a student should take into consideration his / her previous school record , work habits , interests , abilities , and future plans . Each student should plan for a sequence of courses making sure that the courses fit into a projected four-year plan . Please refer to the Four Year Academic Planning Chart on the inside back cover of the Program of Studies .
Enfield High School is a comprehensive high school that offers a wide variety of elective courses in addition to the required courses . Students are encouraged to enroll in elective courses that offer meaningful challenges and experiences .
Students or parents with questions about the course selection process should consult with the school counselor .
REQUIREMENTS FOR GRADUATION
A graduate of the Enfield Public Schools must have earned a minimum of 24 credits , must have met the established credit distribution requirement , and must have earned a 1.7 ( C- ) average for all courses required for graduation . Beginning with the class of 2023 , a graduate of the Enfield Public Schools must have earned a minimum of 25 credits , must have met the established credit distribution , and must have earned a 1.7 ( C- ) average for all courses required for graduation . In accordance with Connecticut General Statutes , students must also meet additional performance standards in literacy , numeracy , and science , with the goal of improving learning for every student .
